Go up the ladder and look for a glowing item along the opposite side of the structure. It’s actually the Sha-Chi Furnace Inspection Crank. Head back down to the ground level and use the crank on the furnace. This opens a hatch, revealing a Primal Stone. Return to the Friendly Shadow Warden and give him the item. He’ll thank you and imply that the two of you will meet again. Reach the top and talk to the Friendly Shadow Warden (left). Then, obtain the crank (right) and use it to retrieve the Primal Stone. Meigu Lake: Friendly Shadow Warden and Sha-Chi Tower location Your second encounter with the Friendly Shadow Warden occurs much later in the campaign once you’re able to travel to Meigu Lake. The main entrance to the Sha-Chi Tower is accessible via the bridge at the end of the cliffside path. There’s even a Powderkeg enemy that can blow a hole through the rubble, revealing a lift that takes you to an optional boss. Don’t mind it for now. Now, if you want to obtain the Primal Stone, you have to ride a boat. Go back to the Pangzhen docks and sail the boat over to the northeastern side of the tower. There, you’ll see an opening to the structure’s underbelly. From the Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Dock bell, follow the main passageway while taking out enemies. You’ll eventually see another bell: Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Lower Passage. Keep forging ahead and you’ll reach the outer section. Mantle atop the wooden ledges and you’ll stumble upon the third bell: Pangzhen Sha-Chi Tower Lower Exterior. At this point, you’re going to see a rickety rope bridge guarded by a couple of Shadow Wardens. Take them out and slide down the metal pipe at the end. You’ll then notice a tall ladder. After climbing it, you’ll be right in front of the machinery core. The crank is already slotted in, so just turn it to claim the Primal Stone. From there, walk off the wooden board to go back down to the central area near the main entrance. Just go to the top as per usual and talk to the Friendly Shadow Warden. Note: As an aside, the aforementioned optional boss in the depths--Zhu Yuan the Searing Blade--drops the Scorching Flames. It’s a Soul Tempering material for your Sanguine Reach, and it’s actually tied to a late-game secret.
