Jaguar’s all-electric future starts with the Type 01, a four-door GT that helped relaunch the brand. But it won't be Jaguar’s only model forever.

Jaguar executives told InsideEVs the next vehicle will arrive soon, but they offered no specifics. When the vehicle debuts, it will use the bold new styling from the Type 01 as a foundation. Rawdon Glover, Jaguar’s managing director, told the publication that the company is marketing the idea of "being unafraid to break convention, or refuse to compromise."

And the new Jaguar Type 01 is certainly unlike any Jaguar that came before it. It’s a long, wide battery-electric vehicle designed to position the brand above former rivals like Audi and BMW.

Jaguar executives did not reveal its next model, but Glover hinted at a crossover-like vehicle. A four-door GT might look better than a crossover, but the current market favors the high-riding models, and we doubt Jaguar will be without one for long.

Glover told Australia’s CarSales that other Jaguar vehicles will “offer more practicality; they will offer different things for different audiences. You can expect that in the portfolio.”

Jaguar's second model will debut sometime after the automaker begins delivering the Type 01, which suggests a 2028 reveal. Deliveries for the Type 01 are expected to start by the end of 2027. A third model is also expected to join Jaguar’s lineup, possibly a large sedan.

The new Jaguar will not chase volume sales; instead, it will focus on profitable, low-volume models while producing only battery-electric vehicles. The company’s attempt to compete with mainstream luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and Lexus has not produced a strong, robust business. Instead, Jaguar struggled to stand out.

What do you think?

The company’s relaunch is about more than one model—the automaker wants to reposition the entire brand and change perceptions of what is worthy of a Jaguar badge. The new Type 01 targets a specific kind of young, affluent buyer who wants something different, and it delivers that experience.

Is it enough to save Jaguar and turn it into a profitable brand? We will have to wait and see.
