BMW is already turning up the wick on its newest SUV. The 2027 BMW iX3 M60 debuts as the range-topping version of the brand’s new all-electric SUV, packing 603 horsepower, 645 pound-feet of torque, and a 0-62 mile-per-hour time of just 3.9 seconds.
And it’s not just power. The M Performance model also brings a more aggressive chassis setup, M-specific styling, and the automaker's latest electric-drive technology. Production is scheduled to begin in spring 2027, with orders opening at the end of January.

As the name should tell you, this isn’t a full-blown M car. Still, the new M60 model gets plenty of hardware designed to make this version of the iX3 considerably more fun to drive than the standard model.
The iX3 M60 uses BMW's sixth-generation M eDrive system, with an electric motor powering each axle. The rear motor is a new electrically excited synchronous unit with a more powerful 420-amp inverter, helping deliver that extra oomph.
Here are the numbers:
BMW hasn't announced an EPA range figure yet, but expect a slight decrease from the non-performance variant. The standard iX3 gets up to 434 miles of range in the US.

Not only is the iX3 M60’s battery bigger, but the new "Heart of Joy" processor improves driving-related inputs up to 10 times faster than the systems used in its previous-generation vehicles. It works alongside BMW M Dynamic Performance Control to coordinate the powertrain, braking, steering, and regenerative braking systems.
There are also dedicated Boost and M Mode controls on the steering wheel, along with M-specific displays and additional driving settings. The M60 gets two exclusive My Modes: M Sport and M Sport Plus. They adjust the powertrain, chassis, and steering for increasingly aggressive responses.
BMW also says the iX3's regenerative braking system can handle nearly all everyday deceleration. Its Soft Stop function uses regenerative braking to bring the SUV to a smooth stop without the conventional braking feel or noise.

The M60 gets more than cosmetic upgrades. BMW fitted the SUV with Adaptive M Suspension, electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio sport steering, and an electronically controlled M Sport differential at the rear axle.
The chassis also receives model-specific spring and damper tuning, stiffer front-end bracing, and revised anti-roll-bar links designed to improve steering precision and reduce body roll.
The standard setup includes:
M Sport brakes with red or blue calipers are available as an option. The iX3 M60 can also be fitted with 21-inch sport tires developed specifically for the model, while 22-inch M aerodynamic wheels are available exclusively on the M Performance version.

BMW has given the M60 several visual changes to distinguish it from lesser iX3 models. The SUV comes standard with the M Sport package and BMW Iconic Glow exterior lighting. The optional M Yellow Lights, meanwhile, are inspired by BMW's race cars.
The front lighting signature also incorporates three elements inspired by BMW's familiar M stripes, along with an illuminated M logo. Elsewhere, the M60 gets standard 21-inch wheels (with 22-inch options), M-specific mirror caps, a black rear diffuser, and more.
Inside, the iX3 M60 gets BMW's latest Panoramic iDrive interface and Operating System X. A 17.9-inch central display is angled toward the driver, while BMW Panoramic Vision projects information across the lower portion of the windshield.

The M Sport steering wheel gets a red 12 o'clock marker and dedicated controls for Boost Mode and M Mode. Drivers can also select the M Sport and M Sport Plus settings directly from the wheel.
M Sport seats are available with aggressive side bolsters, 10-way power adjustment, lumbar support, adjustable thigh support, backrest-width adjustment, and massage functionality. The illuminated M logo is integrated into the headrests.

The standard M interior uses black Veganza upholstery with M PerformTex. Buyers can also choose more upscale Contemporary and BMW Individual interior configurations. BMW's standard 13-speaker Harman Kardon audio system produces 430 watts and supports Dolby Atmos.
Production starts in spring 2027, with US orders opening at the end of January. BMW has not yet announced pricing or official EPA range for the 2027 iX3 M60. We should know all the details closer to the on-sale date.
