Geely is officially coming to Canada. The Chinese automaker announced Friday that its global mainstream brand has established a Canadian operation ahead of launching its first vehicles in the country in 2027.

The announcement marks another step in Geely’s growing global expansion, with the automaker now laying the groundwork for a local retail and service network. Geely Auto Canada says it is currently working on establishing operations and finding retail and service partners across the country.

Geely hasn't announced which vehicles it will sell in Canada yet, but the company says it will select a handful of models from its global portfolio. The company also hasn't revealed pricing, specifications, or exactly where its first dealerships will open. We should know more over the next few months.

The automaker says its Canadian operation will combine Geely Auto Group's global engineering and manufacturing capabilities with local expertise. That includes technology focused on electrification, vehicle safety, intelligent features, and advanced manufacturing.

Bryan Wu, managing director of Geely Auto Canada, says:

'Canada represents an important next step in Geely Auto’s international growth. We are entering this market with a long-term commitment, bringing our global technology and engineering capabilities to Canadian drivers while building strong local partnerships and the support customers need to feel confident in choosing Geely.'

Geely says developing a strong retail and service network will be a major part of its Canadian strategy. The company plans to work with experienced partners that understand their local markets and can support customers throughout the ownership experience.

The Canadian launch comes as Geely continues its expansion outside China. The company sold more than 3.02 million vehicles globally in 2025, including nearly 1.69 million electrified vehicles. Through September 2026, Geely says group sales have surpassed 2.23 million vehicles.

What do you think?

The group includes several brands, although this Canadian launch is specific to the Geely Auto brand. Geely has already established a presence in numerous international markets, making Canada the latest addition to its expansion plans.

The company says more details about its Canadian lineup, retail network, and launch plans will be announced ahead of the first vehicle introductions in 2027.
